Characters

Ariadne (Anne Cahir)

Since her chrysalis in July 2003, Ariadne has been a goth schoolgirl by day and Sluagh by night It is rumoured that she has a strange relationship with the Dreaming: its Mists do not affect her. Her mother had cancer and was cured by the fae.

Anna (Anna Westmoreland)

Anna's parents try very hard, but she still seems to slip away from them when she needs to. She has an unusual perspective on the world--she managed to capture and hold a vampire without realising that this might be considered difficult for the average ten year old. She works for Imaginet and has wings, and is part of the [insert name here] motley. She's fond of black, and has a wooden teddy bear called Madden that goes everywhere with her. Madden likes to protect Anna...

Baroness Ariel Ciasifon ni Ailil

This gorgeous Sidhe is the current ruler of Khantabahl. Newly arrived from then English Courts, Ariel was promptly made Baroness by the departing Count Sariel. Fond of the finer things in life, her fashion sense has been setting trends in the local courts. She takes no nonsense from anyone, and is loyally served by a number of retainers, including the exceptionally scary Bill the Redcap.

Aurora, Empress of Flames

Naïve, strongly connected to nature and especially fire, Aurora is a recent arrival in Canberra, but says she has passed through many times before. Things tend to combust around her, leading to frequent embarrassment. Recently she did something strange, lighting the sky up with her flames and since that time she has changed – and apparently risen to become Empress of her people.

Beowulf ap Liam (Wilfred Braun)

A young Pooka, (until recently a Redcap), Beowulf has been going around making enemies and annoying people ever since he arrived from Oxford. While--in his own way--extremely honourable, he is very, very touchy. Current record holder for most oaths made in the shortest period, he has duelled with almost everyone in the Kanberry courts and offended the rest. He was even, for a while, a spy for the Old Man, but he redeemed himself by confessing to the Count, incurring the effects of a Geas.
Notable Features: Squire

Count Bluetear

Nephew of the hereditary Troll Count Beaufort, has an older brother (Brett) and a younger sister as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles. Previously served as thane-captain to Count Sariel, became heir when Tarin Clawfist, his previous heir, went Dauntain. Bluetear was a member of the old court. And here’s a picture… And here's a picture
Notable Features Count of Canberra

Bill the Redcap

Big, scary and mean. Ugly even for a Redcap, he is noted for having a collection Sidhe ears hanging from a necklace around his neck. He's fond of Curry, and terrorising innocent Eshu. He seems very loyal to Ariel.

Brett Pallis

Brett is Bluetear’s mortal older brother and is a police constable. His own fae heritage has not brought him to Chrysalis, but seems to manifest in an odd and subtle magical ability of some kind. Perhaps the occasionally visible blue tinge to his skin proves his kinship with the Trolls. Brett was a member of the old court.
Notable Features: Kinain with weird magic

Brogan

Works for imaginet as programmer. Spends a lot of time on the streets. Part of the [inbsert name here] motley. Best friend is Rory, the troll.
Notable Features: Wings, brilliant green cat's eyes, and squints a lot.

Baron Burt the Bulldog

A rather sensitive youth of bulldog-Pooka extraction, Burt was raised predominantly in the Dreaming as the adopted son of Sidhe Duke Adamant ap Gwydion of Gloucester. He longs to be a questing knight but can never seem to get that sword thing right. Despite this, Burt’s valour and honour have been rewarded in Canberra, and he is now the Baron-at-Arms of Caer Taghairm, the Count’s right-hand man. Dog. Pooka. He resides on the common just outside the castle.  And here's a picture
Notable Features: Baron of Caer Taghairm

Clamelge

A handyman, he runs "Gary's Pawn Shop" in Fyshwick, wears a jacket full of pockets and possesses an adventurer’s sword.
Notable features: The mists don't protect him

Casimir

Casimir is a warrior Sidhe who has not declared his Rank or House (very unusual in a Sidhe). He is always seen wearing Grey, White or Black. Talks a lot about people putting aside their differences.
Notable features: Very buff for a Sidhe, full moon eyes (no pupils).

 Clarice

A young girl who has an unusual problem: in 1999 she went from being the beloved daughter of the Court Scribe into a 3 and a bit year coma as a great Banality Wave lashed the city. Her body grew, yet her mind did not. She now finds herself, nearly 4 years later with the mind of a child inside the body of a young woman. Her loving father also seems far more inclined to go to parties than to take care of her as he embraces his Unseelie legacy.

Creswell

Creswell is one of Canberra's best known Boggans, serving for several years as Chancellor to Count Sariel before the Banality Wave of 1999 and now helping the new Chancellor Druscilla take over the role. He is friendly, helpful, very approachable and tends to mysteriously disappear for days and even weeks at times. He also seems to have a bit of Sherlock Holmes about his manner and he is always reaching conclusions that tend to be right based on the smallest traces of information.
Notable Features: The name's Boggan. James Boggan.

Dale Parker

A recently-returned member of the old court, Dale hides a keen mind beneath an amiable, bumpkinish exterior. Fairly reclusive, he spends most of his time out on his agistment dealing with an infestation of Patterson’s Curse.
Notable Features: Vaguely horselike.

Dunvegan

Dunvegan Macleod of the Clan Macleod is a Gloam (a rock spirit, possibly of a castle) from the Isle of Skye. He's been notably antagonistic towards Aurora, possibly as a result of the Slow Wars.

Elsbeth of the White Feather

Elsbeth is a straight-forward young Ghille Dhu and a steadfast supporter of Canberra's right to exist as a Commoner Court in the favour of the more regular Sidhe noble rule. Her credentials in this regard were somewhat reduced when she married Count Sariel and took her place at his side ruling Caer Taghairm. Three years in slumber due to the Banality in Canberra has left her a little older and wiser, and sadness surrounds her, where once there was joy.
Commoner Notable Features none

Esmerelda the Gypsy

Esmerelda is not much taller than the mortal body she is in and what little that can be seen of her complexion.  The usual 'double-vision' that changelings have when looking at others is made all the more confusing by the similarities in costume between Mirella and Esmerelda.  The major difference being though, Esmerelda wears a veil whilst Mirella never has.  Esmerelda does seem to have a lot more 'shinies' [bells, coins etc.] too.  Her complexion [what can be seen of it] is more olive than Mirella's.

Ethan the Scribe

Returned from a long sojourn through Banality and Melbourne(?), Ethan brings back to Sariel's court its scholarship. Perhaps it was the state of the library after the Banality Wave that has sent him into his Unseelie legacy: or perhaps he feels he just needs the fortification of alcohol and parties to preapre him for the task ahead. His daughter is Clarice.
Commoner Notable Features none

Gemma/Gloriana

Joyful and carefree, this is one young Satyr that knows how to party! In the real world she works in childcare, studying it at UC, and volunteers as a Joey assistant. Much of her life has been devoted to bringing joy and creativity to children, both mortal and Fae. The bits of it that aren't, seem to be filled with parties, flirting and chuppa chup chewing. She spends a food deal of time behind the bar at Entrance, flirting with customers and mixing fantastic drinks.  And here's a picture
Notable Features: none

Grendal

Works at Imaginet eating toxic waste, likes to think of himself as a voice of the people and advocate of the Changeling Republic.
Notrable Features: Glowing Red Eyes

Gwenevere

Currently thane captain for Kanberry. Most often seen in the company of two other childlings, known collectively as ‘the trio.’ Quite well liked by the court as a whole, even as she tends to run ahead and get into trouble. ‘Gwen’ (Jan 2004) also tends to change her name quite a lot.

Gwylyyr/John Stankovizk

Gwylyyr is the steadfast, practical and mercenary type of Nocker that is willing to be involved in any scheme, the crazier the better, particularly if he stands to gain from it. His human side, however, does not seem to be at peace with his Fae side—in fact, it seems to be an entirely different person.
Commoner Notable Features none

Hannah McCready

An unfortunately helpful boggan, generally seen wherever Bertram is found, or cooking delectable cakes and other delights for the fae of Kanberry. Always keen to hear, and spread, the latest gossip. Recently married Bertram, and seems just as mixed up with the old man.  And here's a picture
Commoner Notable Features none

Inigo Montoya

A swashbuckling duelist Troll whose blade has at the service of Duke Adamant ap Gwydion of Gloucester, he is currently putting himself at the service of Baron Burt. Inigo is dedicated to honour, and has been remarked as being honourable even by other Trolls.

Kinja ni Gwydion

A bit of an enigma; her fae form is that of an 8 year old, while her mortal form looks like a young woman. Cute too, but that's to be expected from a sidhe. The childling seems to have had some traumatic event in her past, which has taken both her memory and her parents from her. She proved to be a champion of the people when she arranged for Beowulf to make an apology to Mrs. Macready for being rude.

Kitty

A cute, bouncy, childing Pooka, Kitty seems to live in a cheerful world of her own. She has a wooden spoon as her only toy, the now notorious Mr Boo. Mr Boo sold her soul to the Old Man, and fought a duel with Ethan. Kitty was Cheerleader of the Old Man, and has a propensity for hot-wiring cars. She spent a few weeks in hospital suffering severe burns after the links to the Old Man were severed.

Sir Krellian

A redoubtable redcap knight, destroyer of monsters and eater of just about anything that fits in her mouth. More fearsome still are her home-brews, which have been known to put armies into flight lest they be asked to drink them. Count Bluetear’s Bodyguard, a position which is to be reviewed due to their recent marriage, and Court Champion. It is unwise to comment on either her sex or Countess-ness.
Notable Features: Knight and Countess

Morgana

An anime boggan, and member of The Three. Unseelie and into a lot of mischief, although she she means no harm. She was recently mentored to Cresswell. She has a bunch of very useful items, including an escape-proof rope. Fond of tight-fitting brown clothing.

Myfanwy

Another member of "The Three", she is a Satyr who uses anime moves and weapons when fighting. Small, cute, and has mentioned a benefactor called Charlie. A bit of a daredevil.
Notable features:

Nenafel

Nenefal was once an Eshu called Erina. Her Eshu soul set off for Arcadia and was never seen again. After a long complicated quest, Bertram found a Selkie soul for her. Nenafel now lives down the coast and commutes to Kanberry to attend court.

Orion

Once named Spinifex, Orion has come to terms with his past lives and chosen to use his name of old once more. Orion now lives mostly within Fae society, spending most of his time protecting his Glade and watching the Fae of Canberra. In the past he was a steadfast supporter of the Baroness Rhiannon, whose Undoing he still mourns. He has twice refused to serve the rulers of Canberra. And here's a picture
Notable Features: none

Pádraig O’ Dugaín O’ Fióne

A musical fellow, handy with stick and sword.  Often heard singing "Carrickfergus" drunkenly.  Holds the position of Court Herald for Count Bluetear.

Notable Features: none

Rafael

Rafael knows little more about himself than the rest of the fae know of him. He fell from the sky at Floriade, and was named Rafael by Gwen, who promptly appointed herself his Squire. He is clearly a Sidhe of ancient lineage, and has an unreasoning hatred of Bill. Other than that, this Fae has no memory of his past.
Notable Features: Wings

Raith

As a member of the old court Raith was a dark, avenging hero who was a commoner member of House Fiona. Known for his attachment to the mortal world, he has a very strong sense of honour.

Raziel Mordwyn ap Liam

Raziel, called Baron by some, has recovered from his suffering at the hands of evil and banal psychiatrists. He has flair and panache, but holds dear a feckless visage lest he be put in charge of anything once more. He delights in shocking traditionalists among the Sidhe by flaunting the stereotype of a Sidhe noble.  This is why he merely a commoner. He has a small share in Enverona. His latest venture is opening the nightclub ‘EnTrance’ with Gemma.  And here's a picture
Notable Features: None

Rhianwyn

A Troll maid known more for her almost pooka-ish sense of humour than her martial prowess.  Rhianwyn now lives at Caer Taghairm, but is rarely seen around the freehold, preferring to spend her life in the real world instead, where she can often be found telling stories to children. Considered by other Trolls untrustworthy, as she refuses to swear oaths.
Notable Features: none

Rory

Rory works as a security guard for Imaginet, and is leader of the [insert name here] motley. He's very strong on people not getting hurt. His best friend is Brogan.
Notable Features: Changling Eyes

Rowan the Younger

Son of Elsbeth and Sariel, heir to the throne of Caer Taghairm, is seven mortal years old with a fifteen year old Sidhe seeming. He chrysalised only in Jan 2004, and seems to be the centre of much political manouvering.

Rowan the Elder

Rowan was abruptly chrysalised on Twelfth Night. He is Sir Krellian’s (mortal) cousin from Wales.

Steerpike

A suave young Sluagh of great ambition and possibly few scruples. And here's a picture
Commoner Notable Features none

Taavi

Recently returned from the dead, without explanation other than "It’s a long walk from Iran." Appears blue and ferret-like, has skill in martial arts matched only by complete absence of social graces. Owns a small freehold in south Canberra. If given a chance, will gladly bore your head off about the war with the Sidhe.

Terrence

Terrence is looking to become an Evil Overlord, building his expertise up from sending his dark minion to conquer the sandpit, to maybe the whole backyard some time next week. He has recently sent away for training tapes to practice his maniacal laugh.

Prince-Baron Tristan Lyons ap Fiona

Baron of the Enverona Freehold. Despite recent tragedies in his personal life, Tristan continues to uphold the Seelie Code and fights a valiant battle against the coming Fimbulwinter. He won the title of Prince of Australia in a meeting of Australia’s fae in Sydney in 2003 and holds the title until the High Queen produces a natural heir And here's a picture
Notable Features Prince and Heir Presumptive

Prometheus "Paddy" O’Hare

Unseelie Wilder Clurichaun, played by James Riley
One of the friendliest characters you’re ever likely to meet, Paddy always has an open ear for information. The only thing more important to him than information is a good drink at a good pub. Spends his time at Khantabhal, often spending time with his old friend Lady Ariel. His most distinguishing feature is his bright glowing green eyes.
