RTR: "Twelfth Night"

Date: 11 January 2004 (IC date 5 January)
Storytellers: Marissa Harris (Chief Penguin), Stuart Barrow (Chef Penguin), Robert Barbetti (Ubiquitous Penguin), Mark Bruckard (Evil Penguin)

Attendance Aurora; Gwenevere; Tristan; Simon Westephal; Steerpike; Rhianwyn; Hannah Macready; Bertram; Kitty; Ethan; Creswell; Morgana; Esmerelda; Beowulf; Nenafel; Krellian; Padraig; Burt; Casimir; Caitlin; Rowan

NPC Jayde the Mortal Dreamer

The Kanberry Fae gathered together to celebrate Twelfth Night in a pleasant glade within the Dreaming. Chimerical penguin waiters provided a delicious BBQ. Ethan Challenged Mr Boo (Kitty's strange chimerical wooden spoon) to a duel. For reasons known only to Beowulf, he stepped in to act as a champion for Mr Boo. To everyone's surprise, Ethan won. In short order thereafter, Rhianwyn challenged Mr Boo's date to a souffle making competition (and lost), and Beowulf lost a duel to Mrs Macready.

Beowulf sent many of the message Snails out searching for someone, stranding many of them on an island in a salt sea. Many of them were in bad shape before they were rescued.

Finally, in a flash-forward to the following fortnight, Bertram, Mrs Macready, Aurora (and Kitty, acting as cheerleader) sacrificed thousands of people (from the prison system, heroin injecting rooms, terminal wards and Departments of Economics everywhere) to the Ancient Evil from beyond time. This was so the ancient evil could become powerful enough to create a magical new world where the Mythic Age still exists, so there is somewhere to go when this one is destroyed.

At least the BBQ was nice....

"Dragons, Bunnies and Pookamon"

Date: 18 January 2004
Storytellers: Marissa Harris, Xole, Robert Barbetti, Mark Bruckard

Attendance 44

NPCs Tecuhtli Mixcoatl tonalli “Misha the Moon Dragon”, Tecuhtli Mixcoatl yohuac - Misha’s dark brother, Nahualli Mixcoatl – the King’s Vizier, Cihtli Mixcoatl – a grand lady of the moon dragon court, Ocuilin Mixcoatl – a maimed dragon with a club foot and wings in tatters, The bunnies (*including the one kitty named Bloodlust), The Ancient Evil from Beyond Time, Silas the Pooka Dauntain

Misha the Moon Dragon announced his intention of returning to the Moon, and invited everyone to a going away party.

A newly chrysalised Sidhe showed up during the party... it was Rowan, the seven year old heir to Caer Taghairm.

While the Canberra fae gathered and chatted, little glamour infused sweets were passed around. Unfortunately, many fae forgot what can be done with glamour infused food, and when Misha left to go to the moon, almost everyone at the party was dragged with him.

On the moon, the Fae met all the other Moon Dragons, most of whom seemed obsessed with shiny things. The Grand Vizier Dragon explained that either Misha or his twin brother would be crowned King of the Moon Dragons. Oh, and the Fae had to help find a few things: The Crown, the Sceptre, and the Mantle.

Prince Tristan lead the group that went searching for the Mantle, which was made from the skin of the first giant Moon Bunny. The Moon Bunnies live on the dark side of the moon, grow to enormous sizes, and are apparently mortal enemies of the Dragons.

A thoroughly stoned Ethan lead Tristan's party via many detours to the cave of the Moon Bunnie's leader, a giant Bunny called "The General". The General said the Fae could have the mantle if they removed the spears--flags from moon landings--because they were upsetting the balance. It was hinted that very bad things would happen if the balance was not restored. With the aid of a Bunny guide, the party removed all twelve spears. The party ended up in abandoned castle and watched as the Millennium Falcon flew overhead and crashed. They were soon joined by the other fae, and also Misha and his brother who stole the mantle.

The Fae returned to the hall of the Moon Dragons, where they witnessed a strange word duel between Bob Smith and Raziel, acting as proxies for the two candidates for King (Raziel won handily). Misha became king, joining with his brother to become one dragon, and the Fae returned home.

Once returned, Count Bluetear called the Court to session, but only about half the Court gathered. The Court heard reports that Burt and most of the other Pooka were trapped in strange Pookamon balls, so the entire Court went off to rescue them.

A group of Childings had obtained magic balls that could trap Pooka and force then to battle in a strange magical arena. (Nat/Gwen had bought the balls off "some guy".)

Eventually Court got underway, putting Bertram, Hannah Macready and Aurora on trial for committing thousands of murders at the behest of the Ancient Evil From Before Time (aka the Old Man).

The previous month, he had persuaded Bertram that a) the world was going to end, b) that the Old Man could save everyone by creating a new world, and c) he needed many souls to power this creation.

Bertram felt trapped by his Oaths (to protect the Canberra Fae by any means necessary) to provide the sacrifices. He engineered this by killing off most of the inhabitants of NSW Prisons, Heroin Injection Rooms, and Economy Departments everywhere. He persuaded Aurora and Hannah MacReady to assist.

These three were put on trial, but not severely punished. During the trial, Beowulf broke a geas to reveal that he had been acting as a spy for the Old Man. The geas turned him from a Redcap to a Donkey Pooka.

Bertram was stripped of his rank of Knight and made Squire to Tristan. All of the three were released on the understanding that they would work to repair the damage they'd done, and that they stayed with a member of the Court at all times.

Bertram revealed that the Old Man would be weak just after summoning some of the Elder Gods and could be attacked. It was also revealed that this would occur only hours after the arrival of the Queen of Australia to the Canberra Courts, Count Bluetear called for an Oath of Silence about the proceedings from all present in order to prevent the Old Man from learning about it.

Rhianwyn left the Court without taking the Oath. Raith and Brett were sent after her, and she was Chimerically killed. She was later released after satisfying Bluetear that she was not an agent of the Old Man, and adequate security arrangements were made.

Nat/Gwen was made interim Thane Captain, with the understanding that the position would be reviewed the following month (allowing time for some late applicants to perform their quests).

RTR: "Raid on Imaginet"

Date: 18 January 2004
Storytellers: Mark Bruckard, Robert Barbetti

Attendance Gwenevere; Burt; Rhianwyn; Krellian; Padraig; Paddy; Gloriana; Beowulf; Steerpike; Orion; Terrence; Myfanwy; Morgana; Creswell; Bertram disguised as Kieren.

NPC Albert Zetlander - CEO of Imaginet

The group snuck into the Imaginet offices in Bruce Technology Park. Gemma went to talk to the receptionist, whom she discovered was an enchanted mortal. The Receptionist told her that the CEO of Imaginet was always happy to speak to her kind. So several of the infiltration group went to see the CEO, Mr Albert Zetlander, who turned out to be a very friendly enchanted Kinain – very reminiscent of a stage magician. He told the group that the Imaginet game was set up to inspired it’s users to create Glamour (although he used a different term for it), which it then collected and channelled back to the offices for the use of Imaginet’s Changeling employees. It was essentially a giant musing device, which is now in use all over Canberra. He mentioned his hopes that it would soon be a national and ultimately international product.

Mr Zetlander took the news that Imaginet might be used to harm the Fae very seriously and offered them jobs with the company, working with the game designers so that the game would still be a fantastic game, but not give anymore secrets away.

The remaining members of the group went to talk to some of the childling Eshu game writers and childling Nocker techies and generally got to know the place and the people in it. Most of the Fae employees were childlings and all Kiths seemed well represented, especially Nockers.

"Of Queens and Jabberwocks"

Date: 15 February 2004
Storytellers: Marissa Harris, Mark Bruckard, Robert Barbetti, Stuart Barrow, Xole

Attendance 44

NPCs Queen Eskavita ni Fiona, Duke Sebastian ap Fiona, Bally ap Fiona, Hawthorn the Troll, Sir Ryan ap Fiona.

The Canberra courts were in an uproar... the Queen of Australia was going to visit!

Each Barony waited with eager anticipation... and some trepidation. There was a bit of problem with the Caer Taghairm preparations, as the Australian Army decided to occupy Carillion, effectively blocking Caer Taghairm's main gate. Ethan managed to open a trod from a nearby underpass, but the problem of the army still remains.

The Barons, Knights and Squires of Kanberry were presented to the Queen, including Sir Bryant of Imaginet. She expressed concerns that the court possessed insufficient Knights. Before she left, Bluetear confirmed his oath to Duke Sebastian and, through him, the Queen.

Bluetear has married Sir Krellian, who is now Countess Krellian, and will act as regent should anything happen to Bluetear before Rowan (Bluetear's heir) comes of age. This may mean that Krellian's job as bodyguard to Count Bluetear will have to be reviewed. There will probably be a public ceremony next month. Bertram and Hannah have announced their engagement, and rumour has it that Hannah is now in a family way. Some say that the grapes being passed around by Simon may have contributed something to this.

Sir Byrant of Imaginet has now sworn to Bluetear, who is considering making him 'Baron' of Imaginet as a way of incorporating Imaginet into the Canberra Court structure. Imaginet is to alter their game so as to stop breaching the Escheat.

With an effort that left him bleeding from ears and eyes, Count Bluetear used his knowledge of Silas's true name and the saining rod to bring Baron Silas back from being Dauntain. Unfortunately his redemption didn't last long, as he ended up being sacrificed to fuel the Old Man's ritual of summoning the Elder Gods.

The Canberra Fae worked out an elaborate plan to defeat the Old Man. (Prince Tristan's famous Glorious Suicidal Frontal Assault Plan.). Aurora announced her decision to sacrifice herself and use a special dagger to destroy the old man. The fae divided themselves into groups, and when the sky appeared to catch fire, charged at the pyramid.

The fae found Silas tied to an altar as the Ancient Evil from beyond time performed some black ceremony. The Old Man, and he fell to a massed attack, with Steerpike's flaming sword performing the coup de grace. The Jabberwock (a giant dragon-like creature) appeared in the swamp, to be attacked by a stolen tank driven by Sir Byrant and his friends, and a stolen APC driven by Terrence and Kitty.

The tank was destroyed, but Sir Tristan attacked the Jabberwock with the Eversword. He was last seen being buried under a dying Jabberwock. His body was not recovered.

Back in the swamp, Burt was possessed by the spirit of the Old Man and ate Silas. Tentacles erupted from Burt's body, and a great battle ensued. Duke Sebastian finally managed to bring him down, but then Steerpike felt himself being possessed too. In a display of selfless sacrifice, he told everyone to get back and the killed himself with Bluetear's axe.

A massive meteor strike hit many of the major cities in the Northern Hemisphere, killing millions of people. Australia was largely unscathed.
