Autumn is the season for Buds and Fruits of many of the plants in the Bushland

The Acacia family has many plants preparing for an early display of flowers.

Try to identify these acacias (using a copy of Our Patch). Try to walk in the bushland and identify these plants. They are not the only acacias in bud at the present. Try and find some others.

Some eucalyptus are also in bud and in flower. Try and find which ones are currently in flower or bud. Some will also have fruits. Many other plants still have fruits or the husks of fruit bodies.

Flowers are not abundant but this plant has individuals in bud and others in flower. You wont have difficulty in finding these!

Other plants are concentrating on surviving the dry periods while still developing for the next season.

The vertical leaves reduce the loss of water and the moss dries up. But! look at the same lot of moss after some rain.

Autumn then is the time to look carefully for the small signs of what will change in the coming months. See if you can find the first wattle blooms!
